Helping the community

Anyone that knows me will know that I am a big football and sports fan. I play in the Cheltenham league, albeit at the bottom end of the scale.

One thing that I am particularly passionate about is getting children playing sport. My son currently plays for Bishops Cannings under 7’s and participates in the after school football club. He also attends Judo classes at his school. I firmly believe that children should be encouraged to be active and not part of the ‘Playstation generation’.

So what has this got to do with accounting? Well nothing really; however, I have recently agreed a deal to sponsor one of the summer soccer camps run by Inclusion Coaching in Devizes. The holiday football camps are perfect for those people who are working and have children. With a 6 week break it can be very difficult to find things to do over the whole summer, as well as get/ take time off work. This therefore makes it an ideal solution.

Inclusion coaching is headed up by Steve Hooper, an experienced and qualified football coach, he has worked for Swindon Town and is set to run the Under 18’s for Devizes Town next season.

The company aims to bring football to the community. Currently they run after school classes at a number of schools in the area, as well as the holiday soccer camps at Devizes Football Club. There are coaching sessions, a tournament and trophies. You can also have a birthday party with a coaching session!

It is an absolute pleasure to be able to support this business in bringing a valuable service to the community.

From a business perspective this is also a no brainer. I will be represented on promotional materials, included in local press and there to hand out trophies at the event. Steve is looking for other businesses to sponsor future events, feel free to contact him via his website if you are interested.
